I have these installed in my 7.1 surround system and do not use them for anything more than surround but I am happy with the output I've heard from them.

Fantastic, well built speaker.
This is a great speaker that sounds fantastic and is built to last. If you're reading this review, you probably already know that the AIM8 is the entry-level speaker for SpeakerCraft. That being said, it is an entry-level speaker for one of the most well-respected super-high-end ultra-premium speaker companies in business. I am no audiophile, but my guess is that as you move up their line, the point of diminishing return (on your money) probably becomes pretty noticeable. Don't get me wrong, if you have unlimited funds, go for the top. Otherwise, I think you'll be more than satisfied with the AIM8's.

JBL CONTROL 1 PRO 5-1/4" 2- WAY SHIELDED ETC,ETC.
i bought a pair of these speakers 21 years ago and they still sound great, hanging in my garage.
Great small speakers
I used to have really large 4 foot tall speakers, for many years.
I switch to 4 of these (surround sound setup) combined with a subwoofer. These are solid construction, like a brick. I've had them now for 3 years, later added a good center channel speaker. These are well made and sound great, would buy again.

Fine speakers, Amazon disappointing as seller
I purchased four Martin Logan Helos 10 speakers from Amazon in November 2009. I am using them for for background listening in a kitchen, and for surround sound in a home theater room.
The speakers themselves produce impressively clear sound, are well constructed, meticulously packaged, and easy to install. The aimable tweeter provides the ability to produce the best stereo image possible when installation location choices are limited.
Whereas I like the product, Amazon has not stood by it as seller. One of the speakers came with dents in the cone and the tweeter detached. It had obviously been abused, returned, and put right back into stock. I returned it requesting a replacement, which is a standard option on Amazon's returns page. No worries, right? Amazon instead refunded muy purchase price, which has gone up by since my order.
I note that there is no place in my past order list to make contact with or make a claim against the seller when the seller is Amazon. I described the problem hitting the "give packaging feedback" link but so far have gotten no response.
The price of these speakers is tightly controlled by Martin Logan, and will be the same wherever you buy. So unless Amazon turns things around on my order, I've got to advise you to buy the product, but not from Amazon.
