Pretty good speakers for the money. I have these as speakers in the bakc of my theatre room and as speakers in other rooms (Multi-Zone). They work as expected.

Don't be afraid of the low price on these excellent speakers.
About 3 years ago, I purchased a set of the AudioSource outdoor enclosed speakers, not expecting much for such a low price. When I hooked them up, I was blown away by how good they sounded. Having had such a good experience with that set, I decided to try the AS8C's for the family room I'm building. I bought enough for a 5:1 surround setup and, once again, was shocked at how well the speakers performed for their price. My only (minor) complaint is that I had to buy three pairs to get the 5 speakers I needed, but at least I have a spare. As I'm writing this, I noticed that the price has gone up to 4 from the I paid per pair, so I guess AS is catching on to how these compare with much more expensive speakers.

The 191 speakers come with both rectangular and round grilles. Consider which shape will work best in your chosen location. The speakers are optimized for use with amplifiers ranging in output power from 10 to 100 watts per channel. Automatic protection circuitry protects the drivers from being overdriven, increasing their reliability without detracting from your listening.

For installation in a drop ceiling (where tile is installed below the ceiling joists), Bose offers an optional drop ceiling kit (product code 031355) for 2 speakers, which protects the tile from bearing the weight of the speakers. For installation in new construction, use the Bose rough-in kit (product code 031353) designed for use after the studs are in place and before the wallboard is added (to reserve a place for the speakers and indicate where the wallboard hole should be made).

Bose Virtually Invisible® 191 speakers
Great for home theater, poor for whole-house audio
I've had these speakers for 3 years in a whole-house audio setup as in-ceiling speakers. The clarity as you'd expect from Bose is great, however if you want good bass response nothing compares to a large woofer. I'm actually in the process of replacing 2 out of 3 pairs with typical in-ceiling 8" woofers to get more bass in my living room and bedroom with high ceilings.

I highly recommend these for in-wall home theater speakers with a separate subwoofer.

I do not recommend these for in-ceiling stereo speakers.

These speakers are Sweet!
I bought these speakers to add to my 5.1 Klipsch home theater system and Onkyo TX-SR707B receiver. I placed them in a drop ceiling in my basement and installation was a breeze. My only issue if any are these speakers are a little on the heavy side, hopefully I don't think they will make the ceiling tile sag (2'X4'). Just to make sure I offset them about 5 inches from end of the tile so that the tile grid would assist with the weight displacement. Connecting the speaker wires to the speakers was super easy, and they produce an incredible sound. The price was right and yes I would recommend them to a friend. On another note, they were shipped out on 1/31/10 and I got them 2/2/10.....lightning fast delivery! I was so surprised that they arrived so soon, I thought my wife bought something without me knowing about it. Thanks Amazon for the great products and wicked fast delivery!!! A++++

one problem
The speakers themselves sound good. My beef is the way they look. This is for my living room so I was looking for something discrete.

Unfortunately the covers are shaped like muffin tops. Looks like my ceiling is a haven for pods. I bought a different brand for my kitchen that are truly flush
