Customer Reviews The Quality of Yamaha Bought a compact stereo system with bass module built into the unit , threw away all the speakers , hooked it to my computer and connected these high quality speakers to it and I have the best sounding computer ever . Much better than those puny computer speakers that shread and sound lousy and better than even the Bose computer speakers . Did I say sound quality ? Never a bad note and not a buzz . These speakers are crystal clear and have never heard distortion . Look and sound great and my computer is now one of the best stereo's in the house . Bought another pair for the bedroom computer . Love them !!!!!

Customer Reviews Great addition to my HT I bought these to replace my HTIB Yamaha's that were about 9 years old. I immediately heard the difference when i set these up. They fill up the room very nicely with crisp, warm sound. The finish on them is simply perfect. The connections in the back are great. Already comes with a mounting bracket in the back. Quality product from a quality company. I am currently using these with my Denon 3310ci AV receiver. They are accompanied by the Polk Audio CSi A4 center channel. Eventually i will finish up the surround with some Polk RM8's.

Customer Reviews Outstanding computer speakers and much more I bought the first version of these, the Acoustic Research Powered Partners, around 1985 when I was in college. These speakers were originally marketed for a tiny niche - people who wanted a high fidelity portable system. My idea was to put together the "ultimate boombox" so I bought the speakers, the optional battery pack (lead acid batteries that weighed a ton), the optional, expensive soft carrying case, plus a walkman. That proved impractical, but man these speakers sounded great. They got rave reviews in the audio magazines of the day, and deserved them. The sound is excellent and well balanced. When I finally got a computer with a sound card in the 90s, it dawned on me that I should be using these with it. They have served that purpose ever since. Recently one of them has started to sound bad, and I plan to retire my set and buy the new Advent versions.
If you want a system that sounds good, buy these; if you want something that is loud and thumps, go elsewhere. These are not about raw power or the ability to bust your eardrums. They are about excellent sounding drivers matched to a nicer-than-average sounding amplifier in each enclosure. The aluminum enclosures are great for use around monitors and other electronic devices. They have line-level inputs that you can plug into an ipod, a computer, a cd or dvd player, or any number of other systems. You can't really use these as guitar amps without some kind of preamplifier - it would be a shame to waste such great speakers on an electric guitar anyway. I'm not sure if you can still buy the stands from Advent, but you could easily make a pair of stands from pvc pipe to get these speakers up to ear level. There is a sort of clamping piece on the back where you can insert a pole or pipe of the correct size. In all, a very versatile system
Regarding the "thump" the speakers make then they are turned on - mine have done this since new and it has not caused a problem in over 15 years of service.

Customer Reviews Great for the price... This is probably an unfair review, but I think it may just show what a great deal these speakers are. I purchased these to replace my JBL 4315's, which are true oldschool studio monitor quality 4-way floor speakers. I wanted to downsize and liked the reviews, so I figured I'd give them a try for 0. I give them 5 stars only for the price compared to the quality, there are much better sounding speakers out there, but not for the price!!!!
I must say, they aren't what I expected from the reviews, but they do sound good, especially for the price. First off, these are really lacking on the high end, at least compared to my JBL's, there is no comparison!!! I know a lot of reviews rave about the quality of the vocals and instruments, well, they are half right. The quality is there, but it is relative to the price, these are high quality for the price, but compared to true audiophile speakers, they are highly lacking in the high end. Having said that, the midrange does sound excellent and I do prefer these for watching movies as the sound seems louder at lower volumes. I don't have the luxury of really cranking the volume as I'm in a condo, so these are actually better for all around music and movie listening for my purposes. That is the reason I'm keeping them and if you didn't have audiophile speakers to directly compare these with, you would think these sound amazing!!!!
Overall, I would highly recommend these. Just to give you an idea of what I compared these to, the JBL 4315's are over 30 years old and are highly desired with audiophiles, they easily fetch over 00 even though they are over 30 years old!!!! Like I said, a very unfair comparison, but these Klipsch did sound good, even compared to the high end JBL's. The JBL's reproduce many more high end notes that you don't hear with the Klipsch, but again, how much do you want to spend? If you want the best, you will have to spend thousands of dollars. These are probably the best in this price range and maybe even for hundreds of dollars more, if you don't need audiophile quality, these should be more than satisfying.
I just have one thing to add, I don't care to comment on the bass output of these speakers, that is not related to this type of speaker, they are bookshelf speakers and you can't expect any bass from 6.5" woofers. Any reviewers mentioning bass response are uneducated on what these speakers are capable of. You obviously need a separate sub for these as with ALL bookshelf speakers, don't listen to the reviews about bass output, these are not made for low end, they are mid and highs. Again, my opinion, mid=excellent, high=good, maybe great for value, but there are much better speakers if you want to pay a lot more...
