Dynamite for the money
These are big for bookshelf speakers and they sound good for the price. (Paid eighty five per speaker) I played them alone for months with a stereo amp that pushes no more than 25 watts per channel. They don't sound like thousand dollar speakers but there isn't really anything harsh about them either. They have some punch to them and certain details are very clear. Eventually I added an inexpensive powered subwoofer (BIC 10") to fill out the bottom end and I have a pretty slamming little system at a great price.
When I have a chance to upgrade my stereo with new speakers I'll be glad to move the 162s into my five channel movie setup as the main right and left. I like that they're front ported so they can go on a shelf against the wall without causing any problems.

It broke
As a cheap upgrade, I bought these speakers for my laptop. On a positive note, they looked nice and had decent sound quality considering the cost. For , they seemed like a fine investment and I was a happy camper for several months. That is, until they broke. The blue light was the first to break, which wasn't a big deal. But shortly after, the entire unit was dead silent and completely useless no matter how loud I cranked the volume.

NEIGHBOURS ARE BOUND TO CALL THE POLICE
Trust me. Your neighbours will call the cops. I am more into clarity and roundness than volume. Clarity is wonderful and the LFE is nice and round. This woofer will shake the neighbourhood and keep your neighbours awake. You were warned.
FAIL.
This POS failed less than a week after I had set it up. I am very disappointed to say the least.
Moves a lot of air
I brought this unit to replace a Sony 12" sub I'd had for about 2 months. The 12" is a good sub but it just didn't have the punch I wanted. I want to FEEL the bass and not just hear it. The 15" unit does the trick. My very sturdy sofa shakes and vibrates like its going to fall apart. Watched the new Hulk movie - when they attack Hulk with the sonic cannons the glass in almost every room of my house rattles! That is a LOT of air moving around.
